UK may recognise Palestine before 2029
![]() The United Kingdom could recognize Palestine by 2029, that is, until the end of the current parliament. This was announced by the British Minister of Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, on the air of the Sky News channel. “Within the current parliament, yes, if it helps us to achieve the necessary progress,” the minister said, answering a relevant question. “But we can only do it once. If we do it only symbolically, it will not lead to the end of this conflict,” he added. Prime Minister Keir Starmer had previously stated that London would recognize Palestine “at the right time.” On July 24, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that Paris would recognize the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly session in September. In response, Israel said that such a step would be “rewarding and supporting the murderers and rapists of Hamas.” |
