![]() Armenia’s EU membership is currently completely unrealistic, said Thomas Fröhlich, deputy leader of the Alternative for Germany faction in the European Parliament and coordinator of the Human Rights Committee. He explained that Armenia’s membership contradicts the EU’s strategic interests. “This is particularly due to the fact that Azerbaijan plays an important role for the EU. The EU has common interests with Azerbaijan, especially after Russia effectively ceased to be an energy supplier. In this context, Azerbaijan has partially taken Russia’s place, and its importance for Brussels has increased,” Fröhlich said. |
