Zakharova: "Russia officially recognizes Karabakh as the territory of Azerbaijan"
![]() Russia calls on presidential adviser Vladimir Medinsky not to take his words about Karabakh out of context. This was reported to TASS by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commenting on Medinsky’s interview with Russia Today, in connection with which the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry had earlier expressed indignation. Medinsky, in particular, compared it with the Ukrainian conflict and called Karabakh a disputed territory. “We should not take non-existent theses out of context and change the place of words, giving them a completely different meaning,” the diplomat noted. Zakharova emphasized that Russia officially recognizes this region (Karabakh) as the territory of Azerbaijan. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry clarified that Medinsky spoke about the “historical aspect, socio-cultural features and the pain of the people.” |
