![]() A federal bust ended with the arrest of 13 suspects linked to an Armenian organized crime ring. Their hefty charges include attempted murder, kidnapping, illegal firearm possession, bank and wire fraud, and more than $80 million in online cargo theft. Armed with search warrants, investigators with the Department of Homeland Security -- with the help of local police departments -- raided a Los Angeles home and other locations across Southern California and Florida early Tuesday morning. According to U.S. Attorney Bilal A. Essayli's office in Los Angeles, 13 members of an Armenian organized crime syndicate were arrested in the operation. The U.S. Attorney's office also said $83 million in merchandise was stolen from online retailer Amazon as part of a cargo theft ring run by members of the syndicate. Those members were taken into custody on Tuesday. |
