Turkey detains 37 people over social media posts
![]() Turkey detained 37 suspects for allegedly making "provocative posts inciting crime and hatred" over the detention of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, the Interior Minister said on Thursday. "Provocative posts were found on social media. Of the 261 suspects identified, 37 were arrested," The country's Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on the social network. Turkish Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunç had earlier called for no street protests after Imamoglu's detention. According to him, the process has no connection with the current President Tayyip Erdogan. |
