Together, our countries can achieve great things for Europe,” Merz wrote. After a three-hour conversation between Merz and Macron at the Élysée Palace, the two politicians expressed “the will to turn a new page in German-French relations,” the Christian Democratic Union said in a statement, dpa reported. “The talks took place in an exceptionally friendly atmosphere, a great deal of agreement was reached on a number of topics and many starting points for joint initiatives were found.” ![]() |
