Gabriel Sargissian, Haik Martirosyan, Manuel Petrosyan, Shant Sargsyan, Robert Hovhannisyan, Mamikon Gharibyan, Emin Ohanyan and Armen Barseghyan won in the first round.

Alex Sahakyan drew with GM Vasyl Ivanchuk. Vahe Danielyan drew with GM Dmitrij Kollars. Samvel Ter-Sahakyan's game also ended in a draw.
