American company Monotype, which owns the rights to common fonts Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Helvetica have restricted access to their font library for users from Russia. When trying to open the Monotype website with a catalog of fonts, a Russian user receives an access denied message. This information is provided by sources in Russian IT companies. At the same time, users using a VPN retain their accessibility. The Times New Roman font is used in official documents of the US State Department, and is also used by the Russian Ministry of Defense. |
