European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell told Sky News Arabia on Sunday the bloc will be able to dispense with gas from Russia in two years. Speaking to the outlet during the Doha Forum, Borrell reaffirmed Brussel's readiness to "reduce our dependence on Russian gas and oil," on which it relies "a lot" as Russia is "an unreliable partner" at the moment. He added the EU is trying to "diversity resources, and the Middle East may play a big role." Earlier this week, the EU and the United States agreed to limit the bloc's reliance on Russian energy imports, with Washington promising to ensure additional deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the Old Continents. |
