Samsung Pay to continue working in Russia
![]() The Samsung Pay service will continue to operate in Russia, though payments and transfers on Mastercard and Visa cards, as well as on the 'Virtual Troika' transport card in the ‘Moscow Metro’ app, may not be available, according to a statement posted on the company’s Telegram channel on Wednesday. "The good news is that Samsung Pay service continues operating in the Russian Federation. The bad news is that some operations may not be available now because of restrictions of international payments systems against Russian banks," the statement said. The users of this service may be unable to perform payments or money transfers using Samsung Pay with Mastercard or Visa cards from Russian banks, as well as have new tickets of the transport card ‘Virtual Troika’ issued in the ‘Moscow Metro’ app. The virtual pass tickets that have already been issued or added to Samsung Pay, will continue working on the city’s transport. Meanwhile, payments with Mir cards issued from a number of banks are fully available in Samsung Pay. The list of banks can be found on the company’s website. Earlier, the owners of Apple devices reported failed payments on App Store applications. Moreover, the Central Bank said earlier that Apple Pay and Google Pay services will be unavailable for Visa and Mastercard cardholders. |
