British referee injured during Europa League clash after missiles thrown from crowd

The match between Romanian side Universitatea Craiova and Budapest Honved was close to being abandoned in the 120th minute following crowd trouble. Fans threw flares, lighters and other missiles towards the pitch after 210 minutes of goalless football over the two legs. British referee Arnold Hunter was caught up in the drama, being hit on the head with a lighter after a flare exploded next to him. |
