Napoli ‘approach Inter over £73m Icardi transfer’

MAURO ICARDI'S Inter Milan soap opera could be salvaged by Napoli in a £73million deal — potentially putting Antonio Conte's side back in the race for Romelu Lukaku.

The striker has had a tumultuous last 12 months at the San Siro, after a club-vs-player saga involving his wife, nude pictures and roller-coaster form.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Icardi is a target for Carlo Ancelotti's side — with a manager who could actually get the best out of the out-of-form forward, who has not played any pre-season games so far.

Icardi, 26, bagged 11 Serie A goals last season — 16 in all competitions — but the Nerazzurri failed to make it back into the Champions League after being knocked out in the group stages.
They then got through to the knock-out stages of the Europa League but were knocked out 1-0 on aggregate by Eintracht Frankfurt.

But Icardi missed those crucial games through injury and was stripped of the club captaincy.
