The candidates for The Best FIFA Football Awards men’s coach have been announced today, and the winner will be announced on September 23rd. The list has the biggest winners around the planet, from FIFA World Cup winners to Africa Cup of Nations title-holders. Djamel Belmadi led the Algeria national team to lift its second-ever Africa Cup of Nations trophy; while Didier Deschamps has taken France to the second position of the FIFA World Ranking. Marcelo Gallardo won the 2018 Copa Libertadores with River Plate, and Ricardo Gareca led Peru to the 2019 Copa America Final. But there are two managers who are favorite to win the award: Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, who won the domestic treble, and Jurgen Klopp who won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool. Mauricio Pochettino was also selected, as he guided Tottenham Hotspur to the European continental final, while Fernando Santos guided Portugal to the UEFA Nations League title. The last two candidates are Erik Ten Hag, manager of Ajax; and Tite who led Brazil to win the 2019 Copa America title. |
